Rappiere exits the crowd, climbs on stage, and starts addressing the people.
“very well you sorry lot. Let’s take it in order. AJ is a pirate and a rocker, but also an exile, dragged against his will in a land of bureaucrats and fixers, where he first encounters that alienating feeling, the feeling of belonging to a state where the people rule, but only on paper. Like another placentine musician, G. Verdi, he gives in to an artistic rage, an iconoclastic impetus like the one that led Verdi to use his piano as a declaration of war to the Austrian Government. For the same reasons, Andrea chooses to play in Piacenza, calling everybody who listens to rock and waves a black flag to a revolution, to avoid falling under the yoke of a government sold to the lords of Euro-fief, and does not start in just any old day: he chooses the 28 of april, the anniversary of the Bounty’s Mutiny!
The mutiny, of which we perceive the deep significance in the lyrics of songs like “Will rise again” is not just an incitement to rebellion, to make the dream real, but is also a memento to the captain himself, abandoned every time (as bligh puts it in his log) for two haitian whores and a drop too much of gin, and every time got back with the wind in his sails, even in the storm…to bring his personal SeaQuest (his musical project) to a new dawn.
The formation keeps changing as some do not believe in a man alone against the world, but AJ Blood, ideal heir of W.J.Bligh every time resumes his mutiny against a tyrannical market, a democratic dictatorship, an oppressing, violent ignorance, bringing the treasure of rock’n’roll to the world, together with the toxic pleasure of that drug that governments fear, calling it Freedom.
APPENDIX- THE CREW
You’ll have noticed that in this post i spoke of the first piratical formation of the black bones, while in this other i speak of the terrible McGee. Who, thus, are the new pirates gathered under the Black Bones of Cap’n Blood’s Jolly roger?
“Ruvidanotte”(Roughnight) Saul, or, as a british officer mistakenly wrote on his wanted poster “RoughKnight Saul”. That K, surely a coincidence, made him the hero of anti-colonialism. With the tatoos of a samoan and the vulgarity of an aussie, he’s the main cannoneer of the SeaQuest, and he won’t spare his load to anyone who tries to impose on him a flag, an haircut, a tie or a salute to whatever queen.
Spring Dywhisk, or simply Dywhisk, has pirate blood in her veins since the inception of her family. She is the descendant of that Gergji Gijka in which europe only saw a bloody raider, and has the “galactic poetry” typical of her ancestor. Ever in contact with nature, bearer of and ancestral Asha (the Zoroastrian energy of creation) is called “spring” by everybody. She does not betray, though, her barbaresque nature, bearing with honour her albanese name which means “dual whip” indicating the duality of prevarication and servitude, pleasure and pain, freedom and duty.
Thinking of Satine, your mind may run to great Satine Zidler, called the “morning star” legendary performer at the Moulin Rouge. Let’s call it a half truth. With the morning star she shares grace, charm and performing gifts, both on deck and in the captain’s chambers… but the “Bowerbird” has a singing quality that is hypnotic, tantric, and sometimes dark…that same “morning star” we talked of is also a shout back to the dread Hook, that christened his ship that way in honour of the flail, an instrument of pain. It is said that somewhere on Mme Satine’s body is a birthmark shaped like a XV, the roman numeral tied to temptation and the Devil Arcana… what do you say? ’tis worth to check out while she’s dancing on stage? Out with your spyglassess…
Denk? What manner of a name is denk? Not a pirate’s name.. on urban dictionary we find a single citation: (in a brothel)who we bellin for a denk? ’tis simple: Denk’s not a pirate, he was born in the smoky streets of the bayou, permeated with magic and psychotrope drugs, those same street where the members of the esoteric Evil Eye Lodge are recruited.. Denk (literally weed-addicted) also called “the herbalist” looked into the eyes of the abyss, and then went out with it for beers. Why ‘s he the crew’s bosun? ‘cos no-one can frighten or shake the mind of who has gazed in the eye of evil.
Darius, also known as Blood belt, is the war cerimonier. He lives following the bushido, plays following the haka of the ancient polinesian warriors, and fucks to “invictus ultramarines”. Some value him poorly for his red belt.. little they know that relic is a memento that is born with the pirates of mompracem and gets to us and the abominable kung-fu man passing through rambo and conan the barbarian. Is he a jerk? Maybe. Can he write? We only know that, while pirates sign with an X, he can write “darius” only with his knuckles.
About Captain Blood much has already been said here, and who am i to deny his official biography? So why talk about him in this note? Well, because a captain has always need of a crew and of some new adventure, and here is the proposition made by the captain: if you write piratical adventures, send one to [email protected], choose the system you want and prepare Pc’s based on the idea you had of the group (like this user did here). Give us a title and an adventure (max three pages long) and it could become a new album’s track.
