War of the lilies: funny things

-Tortuga’s tavern “the branch man” is a tribute to the author’s great grandfather, who used to run a tavern in italy just after the war. Since his clientele was illiterate, and himself as well, the sign of the shop was just a hazelnut tree branch nailed over the entrance. So he was called “Bruno of the branch”
-The man telling Gord about the mysterious Black Freighter can be recognized as singer Iggy Pop.
-Rulko and Cyanuro, the ship’s hatchetmaster and empyrist respectively, are two characters played by Gord’s “actor” and the author in a larp campaign.
-“spiga” the ermine, is a lady  ermine.
– the cart at which ortica stops to buy tortillas to eat is called “verdugos”. It is not a coincidence that the name resembles that of the first inquisitor.
-The montaigne attacking Ortica and strangled by Gord is the huge frenchman running after Sherlock holmes in the Robert Downey Jr movie: “Run little rabbit, run!”
-Ozzy, Gawyn, Dadle, Darko and Blue are inspired by larp characters of real people (as indeed are Gord and Ortica)
-The man sleeping in the pantry during the inquisitor’s inspection is Oreste, the ship’s cook (you will see more of him in the future…)

P.s. “Falling stars” is the title of the second chapter of the book. The title will be printed on the cover of the limited issue that will be printed as soon as the chapter is finished.
